315 <br /> Adjourned Town Meeting-April 7, 1997 cont... <br /> 9:58 p.m. Paul Lapointe, Appropriation Committee, stated unanimous <br /> support of the Committee and suggested a systematic approach be taken to <br /> establish appropriate level of funding. <br /> 9:58 p.m. Joel.Adler, Pr.1, inquired about proposed improvements <br /> under Article 14 and plans alluded to for a combined public safety building. <br /> Town Manager Richard White responded that any improvements made to <br /> existing Fire Headquarters would not be wasted regardless of future plans. <br /> 10:00 p.m. Motion unanimously adopted by voice vote. <br /> 10:00 p.m. Karen Dooks,Capital Expenditures Committee,served notice <br /> of reconsideration on Article 14. <br /> ARTICLE 15: DPW MOWER REPLACEMENT <br /> 10:01 p.m. Presented by Selectman Peter Enrich. <br /> MOTION: That the sum of$47,000 be appropriated to replace a mower <br /> for the Department of Public Works, and to raise such amount$47,000 be <br /> transferred from insurance proceeds. <br /> Mr.Enrich stated the Board of Selectmen's recommendation for approval. <br /> 10:02 p.m. David Miller, Capital.Expenditures Committee, stated the <br /> Committee's unanimous support. <br /> 10:02 p.m. Paul Lapointe, Appropriation Committee, stated the <br /> Committee's unanimous support. <br /> 10:02 p.m. Motion unanimously adopted by voice vote. <br /> ARTICLE 16: BROOK MAINTENANCE <br /> 10:03 p.m. Presented by Joyce Miller, Conservation Commission. <br /> MOTION: That this article be indefinitely postponed. <br /> Ms. Miller explained that Lexington had seven major brooks and that this <br /> article had been originally intended to provide funding for planning and <br /> obtaining permits for brook cleaning. The Board of Selectmen have agreed <br /> to provide funds from alternative sources to begin the permitting process <br /> for this year and plan to include funds for brook cleaning in the FY99 <br /> operating budget. <br /> Elizabeth Eddison,Board of Selectmen, stated unanimous support from the <br /> Board for this article and confirmed commitment to include funds in the <br /> FY99 operating budget. <br /> 10:07 p.m. In response to a question from Ephraim Weiss, Pr.5, Town <br /> Manager Richard White explained that funds would be made available this <br /> year from companies the Town is currently negotiating for the lease/rental <br /> of space from the Town. Payments may be designated to go directly to <br /> perform this function. <br /> 10:08 p.m. Motion unanimously adopted by voice vote. <br />
