b
Appropriation Committee met on July 17, 1972 at 7: 30 P.M. in Room 111
of the Town Office Building.
Present: E. Furash, Chairman; J. Mitchell, Vice-Chairman; J. Blaisdell,
L. Burnell, H. Levingston, D. White, R. M. Perry, Comptroller:
Memorandum from the Town Manager, dated July 17, 1972 , regarding the
status of negotiations between Johns-Manville Corp. , Federal RoofingCo.
and the Town, re repairs to Bowman School roof, was read and discussed.
Memorandum from the Town Manager regarding a meeting on July 25, with
various committees of the Town regarding the 18 month transitional
budget to be submitted this fall. Jack Mitchell to be this Committee' s
.. representative at that meeting.
LrJ
--I Reserve transfer request for $1,265. to be transferred to Police Expense
Account No. 3800-305 was received. After discussion it was decided
the Chairman would request more explanation from the Town Manager. A
balance of over $30,000 . remains in the account, and the fact that
$1,000. was added in the 305 (printing) category for the possible cost
of Parking Tickets that formerly was paid by the County - no payment
has been made to date for these tickets.
Transition of Town Counsel from Donald E. Legro to Palmer & Dodge,
Norm Cohen, was discussed. From tentative information obtained from
the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Palmer & Dodge will take over
sometime in October, 1972, with a possible 30 to 60 day period of
turnover and both counsels working to catch up on any backlog. This
could possibly cause a request of about $5, 000. from the Reserve Fund.
Palmer & Dodge will bill us on a per hour basis.
Next meeting of the Committee will be August 14 , 1972.
Respectfully submitted,
amh1
Richard M. Perry .
Acting Secretary
r
