6 <br /> The Appropriation Committee held a meeting at 7:30 P.M., on Tuesday, <br /> June I, 1971, in the office of the ComptrollerEstabrook Hall, <br /> Lexington. _ Present were Edward E . Furash, Chairman, Jack L. Mitchell, <br /> Vice Chairman, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, J. Harper Blaisdell, <br /> Levi G. Burnell, Howard L. Levingston, H. Bigelow Moore and Donald B. <br /> White. <br /> The Chairman read to the Committee a letter received from Leland H. <br /> Emery] a former Assessor, which praised the Committee' s Annual Report. <br /> Meeting was held at 7:45 P.M. with Lee Whitman, of Turning Mill Road, <br /> with respect to Article 10, a buffer strip on the Burlington line, <br /> He spoke about the attitudes of the State, DPW and neighborhood on <br /> LD the acquisition of the land. <br /> r-i <br /> U Meeting was held at 8:15 P.M. with Thomas Taylor of the PBC . Dis- <br /> cussion was held on Article #8 - Bowman School roof construction. He <br /> stated that the Committee responsible for the problem is the SSBC, <br /> since the school hasp not as yet been accepted by the Town. He read a <br /> Report from a Consulting and Testing firm that reported that the roof <br /> had delaminated, entirely, due to lack of adhesion of layers and that <br /> the roof should be removed and a new one installed. In their opinion • <br /> that fault lies with the roofing company. Town Cozens ,l has the prob- <br /> lem and Chairman Furash will speak with Counsel Legro about future <br /> litigation. It is estimated that $116,000. will be the cost of the <br /> repairs . <br /> Members Blaisdell and Bernier will inspect the roof situation at the <br /> -- Bowman School. Members Blaisdell and Mitchell will consult with <br /> Mr. Mac Innis, of the School Department, and view the fire damage at <br /> the High School, funds for which are requested under Article #9. <br /> All will report their findings to the Committee at the next meeting. <br /> Meeting was held at 9:10 P.M. with Representative Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. <br /> Discussion was held on Article #10. He felt that the Legislature <br /> could possibly pass the House Bill, now under their consideration, <br /> and that it would be to the best interest of the Town to purchase the <br /> buffer strip at the _Special Town Meeting. <br /> Meeting was held at 9:30 P.M. with Messrs. Giroux and Matheson, owners <br /> of the Central Block, and their Attorney, Blair Perry. Discussion <br /> was held on Articles #2, #3 and #4. They explained their plansfor <br /> the property. They do not wish to sell the land to the Town, they are <br /> opposed to a 25 foot taking at the front and will only accept the <br /> original land swap and 15 foot taking for the building front line . <br /> Meeting was held at 10:20 P.M. , with the Selectmen, in the Bird Room. <br /> All Articles for the Special Town Meeting were reviewed. <br /> The reconvened meeting of the Appropriation Committee, was adjourned <br /> at 11:30 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitt d,t <br /> ...__ JtV'"'A?
