<br /> The Appropriations Committee held a meeting at 7:30 P.P.Q., on Monday,
<br /> November 23, 1970, in the office of the Comptroller, Estabrook Hall,
<br /> Lexington. Present were Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Jack L. Mitchell ,
<br /> Vice Chairman, J. H. Blaisdell, Levi G. Burnell, Howard L. Levingston,
<br /> H. Bigelow Moore, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller and Donald B . White .
<br /> Meeting was held at 7:30 with the Permanent Building Committee. Pre-
<br /> sent were Thomas Taylor, Chairman of PBC,. Rudolph Fobert, Superinten-
<br /> dent of Schools and members of the School Committee and Capital Ex-
<br /> penditures Committee.
<br /> Bids are to be returned on January 5, 1971 for the proposed Jr. High
<br /> which is to be acted upon at the Special Town Meeting on January 11,
<br /> 1971. The building has been moved back on the property to a better
<br /> In location nearer Franklin School. It will contain just under 120,000
<br /> sq. feet with reductions having been made over the originalbuilding
<br /> proposed in areas of library, auditorium and lunch room. Estimated
<br /> cost of the project, at this time, is $4,700,000. Electric heating
<br /> is to be used, and paper plates, plastic utensils in the lunch pro-
<br /> gram so that less facilities for hot water will be necessary. Cost
<br /> of site preparations includes laying out all fields, backstops, etc .
<br /> R. Fobert guesses that 100 to 150 pupils would leave grades 9 - 12
<br /> to attend a Regional Vocational High School.
<br /> nuestions were raised as to the Stedman Road Article in the Special
<br /> TM, and its cost . Information is to be requested from Town Manager.
<br /> Meeting was held at 8:30 P.M. with the Board of Health. Present were
<br /> Dr. Cosgrove, Dr. Ellicott and Robert Heustis, Health Director. Also
<br /> present ,was Frank H. Totman, Jr. of the Lexington Visting Nurses As-
<br /> sociation. The LVNA has three full time, three part time nurses, a
<br /> secretary and a physiotherapist to handle communicable diseases, clinics,
<br /> T . B. cases, etc ., with payments being made by patients, in some cases,
<br /> and other payments coming under Medicare, Blue Cross, Cancer Society,
<br /> United Fund and from the $4,000. paid by the Town. 939 visits on be-
<br /> half of the Brd. of Health were made between Jan. 1 and Oct. 31, 1970.
<br /> They have raised their cost per visit from 87.50 to $9 .00 as of Nov. 1
<br /> and are asking $1,000. from the Town for extra payment for 1970, with
<br /> a budget request for $5,000. for 1971.
<br /> A letter from the Comm. of Mass . - Committee on law enforcement and
<br /> administration of Criminal Justice - was read and it advises that the
<br /> Town will receive $918 . as a result of installing Police Teleprocessing
<br /> Terminals this year. A Check for .$695. , in part payment, was received.
<br /> RESERVE FUND TRANSFERS :
<br /> Acct. #3300 Health Dept. 81,000.
<br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to
<br /> approve the requested amount
