Style is the keyword- <br /> so much money is appropriated, deal with the situation and do with it <br /> as they see most necessary. <br /> In terms of people and expenses the largest department is the School . <br /> Appropriations recommends that they seriously consider cutting programs, <br /> reorientating staff this year, hold or reduce expenses, reorientate <br /> turn-over personnel' and hold to the 1970 budget or V, more. It is <br /> important for the Town to do this in 1971. <br /> Dr. Fobert and Chairman Farwell explained that there were problems . <br /> The price of fuel has increased and new fuel will have to be used to <br /> comply with anti-pollution regulations . The school lunch program does <br /> not pay for itself now, due to increase in food prices and the inavaila- <br /> bility of subsidized funds-cost is exceeding income-and funds must be <br /> found to continue this State regulated program, approximately 580,000. <br /> Salaries for 1971 have already been negotiated, so that contracts will <br /> have to be honored. In the salary budget for school and town non-cer- <br /> tified personnel' an effort will be made to "hold the line" . <br /> The School Committee retired from the meeting at 8:30 P.M. <br /> The next meeting night is scheduled for Monday, November 23, 1970. <br /> Meeting will be held with the Permanent Building Committee at 7:30 P.M. , <br /> and with the Visiting Nurses Association at 9:00 P.M. <br /> The following meeting night is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 1970. <br /> Meeting on that evening will be with the Library Trustees and with the <br /> Planning Board. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9 :10 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Elizabeth M.
