8 <br /> Minutes of meeting held on December 15, 1969--Page 2 <br /> Mr. Fitzgerald added that they need 10 additional men at this <br /> time . A full complement at this time comprises, 3 men at the E. <br /> Lexington station, and 12 men at headquarters . It takes 3' men per <br /> 2)4 hour shift to man each position. Vacations are beginning to <br /> "do a job" on them because, with more seniority men are now en- <br /> titled to more vacation, and it is impossible to cover all position. <br /> An increase in extra duty is necessary ($8,000. ) for time and a half <br /> that must now be paid by law. Expense budget was reviewed. Safety <br /> shoes to be purchased for eachman for one year will cost (. $18. <br /> per pair. An Article is to be submitted for addition to the Fire <br /> headquarters that would add two bays . Cost for approximately 3,2 .0 sq . <br /> ft . would be $51,000. The Fire Commissioners withdrew at 9:30 P.M. <br /> Recreation Committee : Meeting was held with Robert Bond, Chairman, <br /> Charles Gallagher, Jr. , Gary Margolius and Director of Recreation, <br /> Ben Bertini0at approximately 9:x-5 P.M. <br /> The Personal Services budget was discussed. They want to add 3 new <br /> people for new programs in the amount of x$''1600. The cost of manning <br /> the "Old Res.", if it opens, will be ; 7,100. Plans are, now, to open <br /> with temporary toilet facilities . Due to the size of the beach area, <br /> a limit of 300 persons at one time will be necessary. <br /> The Recreation Committee is reviewing user' s fee problems and they <br /> hope to come up with recommendations to the Selectmen in January. <br /> If the Rec . Comm. had to assign priorities to capital projects, it <br /> would cut in the area of playground equipment for neighborhood areas . — <br /> They -will request lighting for tennis courts in the amount of approxi- <br /> mately $8,000. The Recreation Committee withdrew at 11:00 P.M. <br /> Executive session was held et this time to discuss the Director' s <br /> salary. <br /> Reserve Fund Transfer: <br /> Town Report Committee $250. to provide start <br /> on 1970 report <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to approve the <br /> requested transfer. <br /> Reserve Fund Balance : $67,963 .50 as of 12/15/69 <br /> The next meeting is scheduled at 8:00 P.M. , on Monday, December 22, <br /> 1969, in the office of the Comptroller. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Richard M.
