Whereas: libraries create patential and possibilities within their communities,campuses and schools;and
Whereas: libraries level the playing field far all who seek information and access ta technolagies;and
R'hereas: libraries continuously graw and evolve in how they provide for the needs of every member of their
communities;and
Whereas: libraries and librarians open up a world of possibilities through innovative programing,access to
technology and the powar of reading;and
Whereas: librarians aze trained,tech-sawy professionals,providing technalogy training and access to
dovsmloadable content like e-books;and
Whereas: libraries support democracy and effect social change through their commitment to provide equitable
access to information for all library users regardless of race,ethnicity,creed,ability,sexual
orientation,gender identity or socio-ecanomic status;and
Whereas: libraries,librarians,library workers and supporters across Arnerica are celebrating National Library
Week;and
K'hereas: Tuesrlay,Apri15,2022 has been designated as National Library Workers Day in appreciation of their
work;and
Whereas: Cary Memorial Library in Lexington,Massachusetts is located in the heart of the Town center and the
library and library workers provide an invaluable service to the citizens of Lexington with
compassion,understanding and professionalism.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE SELECT BDAR�of the Town of Lexingtan,Massachusetts do hereby proclaim the
week of Apri13 to 9,2022 as
Natinnal Librar�y Week
in the Town of Lexington and encourage a�l citizens to j oin us in recognizing the staff of the Cary Memorial Library
and further encaurage all citizens to take advantage of the wonderful library resources available.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF,we have set our hands and caused the seal of Lexington to be affixed herewith on the 21 st
