E & D $158,000 Route 2 22,300
Arts. 88,300 Stratham 12,000
$ 69,700 W. Woods 54,000
$88,300
Appropriation Committee considers it advisable to retain at least
this $69,700 in E & D in anticipation of Fall Town Meeting, when
about $50,0 0 may be requested for prelim. plans for school.
Reconsidered Conservation Article for Whipple Hill — Winchester—
Arlington corner. Appropriation Committee voted to recommend
indefinite postponement.
Conservation Land policy
Logan Clarke proposed that we establish the policy of recommending
that a gross amount equivalent to about $1 of the estimated tax rate
be spent each year for conservation land. This would amount to
about $180,000 this year (however more than that was spent last year,
so that spending about $120,000 this year would average about $180,000
per year). He suggested, further, that in a year when less than this
amount was appropriated, any excess might be put into a stabilization
fund. This proposal was moved, seconded and voted and will be
included in the Appropriation Committee report for the June T.M.
Kindergarten Meeting — Mrs. Rawls and Mr. Parrish will speak for the
C.E.C. and Approp. Ctee. at the meeting June 8. C.E.C. basically
favor kindergartens but feel this is not the time to incur additional
cost. Mrs. Rawls will discuss, among other things, the capital
expense of building a school in relation to other desirable capital
expenditures which the Town has been planning. Mr. Parrish will
include in his remarks a discussion of the operating expenses
involved.
Next Meeting Monday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth F. Souza, secretary
