Present Members:Tanya Gisolfi [TG] (Chair), Monami D. Roy[MDR] (Vice Chair), StephanieHsu [SH]
(Clerk), Christina Lin [CL], Larry Freeman [LF], Scott Bokun [SB] (School Committee Member),
Melissa Interess [MI] (Town Manager's Office Member/Human Services Department), Chris
Barry [CB] (Police Department) arrived 8:37am
Absent: Cleveland Coates [CC]
Meeting called to order at 8:30 AM, Quorum was present at 8:30 AM
1. Welcome
2. Announcement of New Members—Welcome Christina Lin and Larry Freeman.
3. Minutes—SB moved to approve October 21, 2021, minutes. MI Second; Minutes
approved unanimously.
4. No Hate November— November 9, discussion was well attended. Four LHS students
present. LHS attendees requested a discussion group just for women to talk about
feminine issues, specifically regarding teenage women. Three students have
submitted responses about the videos. Kindness Rock activity is November 19, 3-
4:30pm at the Munroe Center.
5. Workgroups—
a. Impact of COVID on Persons with Disabilities—Joint workgroup with CoD.The
focus of the workgroup is to solicit and gather perspectives and experiences of
persons with disabilities during COVID.
b. MLK Community Conversation on Race—The Purpose of Education— Honoring
Dr. King's Legacy with Racially Inclusive Curriculum.
6. Updates from Members— LHRC can create a logo. Dec 13, 7pm, is the joint summit on
mental health with the Select Board and School Committee to report out on the mental
health survey. The IAL—Diwali program is November 20, 2021.
7. Chair Report—see attached report
a. Cuban Community Human Rights Event— Not Lexington based —Ana Hebra
Flaster and Tom Diaz presented on the human rights issues in Cuba. TG will reach
out Select Board to see how we can support these efforts.
b. First Friday League of Women Voters -TG and Martha Duffield will be
presenting.
