To see if the Town will Provide for a Board of Anneals <br /> under General Laws , Chapter 41, Section 81 1, as enacted by Statute <br /> 1936,_ Chanter 211, Section 4 by amending the General By-laws of <br /> the Town by adding a paragraph to that' effect to Article XXVI, or <br /> act in any manner in relation thereto. <br /> Article 41. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of <br /> money to defray the expenses incurred by the Retirement Board to <br /> be established under Chapter 318 of the Acts of 1936, or take any <br /> action in relation thereto. <br /> Article 42 . To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of <br /> money for the improvement of the traffic control signal system in <br /> Lexington Center, or take any action in relation thereto. <br /> Article 43. To see if the Town will purchase or take by Eminent <br /> Domain the property numbered 1557 Massachusetts Avenue, adjoining <br /> the Cary Memorial Building, formerly owned by the late William L. <br /> Barnes , for any appropriate municipal purpose, and to pay for the <br /> same in whole or in part by direct appropriation, by transfer from <br /> available funds or by the issue of notes or bonds of the Town. <br /> Article 44. To see if the Town will purchase for a school play- <br /> ground and park purposes the parcel of land owned by Harriette W. <br /> Smith as shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Proposed Addition to <br /> Parker School ProperLy , Lex. , Mass . ; for School, Playground and <br /> Park Purposes, Scale 1 in. - 40 ft. , Feb. 15, 1937, John T. Cos- <br /> grove, Town Engineer" and containing 38,690 square feet, and com- <br /> promise two petitions for damages arising out of the layout of <br /> Valley Road brought against the Town'are <br /> (1 HP riette W. Smith <br /> N- oPtYe <br /> and the other by Harriette W. Smith,/now ren in the Superior <br /> Court, and pay for the same by direct appropriation, by transfer <br /> from available funds , or by the issue of notes or bonds of the Town <br /> in accordance with Law. <br /> Article 45. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum <br /> of 8300.00 to be exnended under the direction of the Selectmen <br /> upon Depot Park for construction and labor in accordance with the <br /> plan presented by the Lexington Field & Garden Club. <br /> Article 46. To see if the Town Meeting Members will vote to author- <br /> ize their precincts to choose members necessary to represent them on <br /> the Lexington Town Meeting Members Association as an Executive Com- <br /> mittee, and to appropriate a sum of money to defray the expenses of <br /> said Committee . <br /> Article 47 . To see if the Town will vote to appropriate money for <br /> the purchase of new Whistle Apparatus for the Fire Department. <br /> Article 48. To see if the Town will vote to accept the recommen- <br /> dation of the Selectmen for the changing of the names of certain <br /> streets , or act in any manner in relation thereto. <br /> Article 49. To see if the Town will vote to construct Reed Street <br /> from about 500 ft. north of Sunnyknoll Avenue to Ash Street, a dis- <br /> tance of approximately 1,000 feet, and appropriate money for the <br /> construction of said street, or act in any manner in relation there- <br /> to. <br />
