Hill avenue , Franklin Avenue , Fair Oaks rive , <br /> "'ebb Street , Shade Street , ( accepted in part ) Smith Avenue Robbins <br /> Road , Tower Street , 'Matson Road , Farmcrest Avenue , Cedar Street , <br /> ( accepted In part ) and for the purpose of constructing these mains <br /> the sum of c31 , 000 . 00 be appropriated for "later Construction Account , <br /> and that for the purpose of raising the money , the Town Treasurer <br /> he and hereby is authorized to sell under the direction of and with <br /> the approval of the Selectmen , bonds or notes of the town bearing <br /> interest at a rate not to exceed 5% per annum issued and payable <br /> as provided by law . <br /> Voted that the sum of $ 65 , 000 . 00 be appropriated for Water <br /> Maintenance Account , the same to be appropriated from the Depart - <br /> mental receipts . <br /> Article 4 . Under this article on motion of Howard S . 0 . Nichols <br /> It was , <br /> Voted that the amount of $ 195 , 400 be apprnpriated and assessed <br /> for the support of the public schools and for the payment of tuition <br /> at vocational schools for the current year . <br /> ( See Page 158 for Article 4 continued . ) <br /> Article 4 . Under this article Norman C . Hooper offered the follow- <br /> ing motion : <br /> Voted that the following amount be appropriated and assessed <br /> for the current year for the support of the Fire . DepartmenW 34 , 250 . 00 <br /> Mr . Albert B . Tenney moved an amendment that Articles 28 and 30 <br /> be taken up with Article 4 . Mr . Tenney ' s motion was carried . <br /> Mr . Tenney then offered the following motion : <br /> I move to amend the motion before the House , by substituting <br /> the following : - <br /> " That Article 4 in so far as it relates to the Fire Department <br /> and Articles 28 and 30 be referred to a committee of five ( 5 ) to be <br /> appointed by the Moderator , one from the Board of Selectmen and <br /> Public Works and four other citizens , none of whom shall be office <br /> ce <br /> holders or employees of. the Town . <br /> That this committee study carefully the fire department In <br /> all its particulars , especially the adequacy and efficiency of all <br /> its apparatus of every kind and description , including the fire <br /> alarm system , the personnel of its permanent and call men , and their <br /> ahilit�7 and training for, the position held and paid for the location <br /> of our station houses and possibilities of consolidation and reletation - <br /> new and better sites , if any , for housing - the living accommodatinns <br /> and hours of duty of the permanent members - the laws governing the <br /> fire department and its legal relationship to our present form of. <br /> Government - and our writer system , with special reference to the <br /> adequacy of street mains for proper fire protection . <br /> And that in order to aid the committee in its studies all <br /> records of the department together with its entire personnel , as <br /> well as that of any other department having any relationship ofjiealings <br /> with the fire department be made available for the attenti-ert and <br /> consideration of this committee . <br /> And that this committee be empowered to employ the services <br />
