The Appropriation <br /> Committee were not in favor of this appropriation until after <br /> investigation by the Selectmen as to their recommendation for a <br /> Public Works Department . <br /> Art . 9 . Under this article on motion of Theodore A . Custance , 111 <br /> it was , <br /> Voted that the report of the committee appointed under <br /> Article 33 of the Town Meeting held March 16 , 1925 to investi - <br /> gate and report on the question of establishing a permanent <br /> memorial to the Veterans of all Wars be accepted and placed on <br /> file , and that the Committee be discharged . <br /> In the absence of the Chairman of the Veterans '. Memorial <br /> Committee , Mr . George L . Gilmore , Mr . Custance , Chairman of the <br /> Board of Selectmen explained that this committee reported in the <br /> Town Report of 1925 . This committee , after investigation , found <br /> that the funds available for a veterans memorial could only be <br /> used for a building or to apply on the Town Debt therefore the <br /> committee desired to be discharged . <br /> Art . 10 . On motion of Theodore A . Custance , it \V9s , <br /> Voted that the Town rescind that nart of the vote passed <br /> under Article of the Ton Meeting held March 16 , 1925 'Mich <br /> ch <br /> reads as follows ; <br /> " That the present Commander of George G . Meade Post , <br /> Grand Army of the Republic , the present Commander of <br /> Stanley Hill Post , the American Legion , and a Veteran <br /> of the Spanish War with two other citizens , the last <br /> three to be appointed by the Moderator , be named as a <br /> Committee of five to investigate and ieeport on the <br /> question of establishing a permanent Memorial , sal d <br /> Committee to be permanent , any vacancies to be filled <br /> by the then Moderator by the selection of a member of <br /> the organization or group in which the vacancy may <br /> occur , and in case no member of the Grand Army Post is <br /> able to serve , its representative shall be selected <br /> from the Sons of Veterans .
