• Tom F has the understanding that there is considerable favorable
traction for this roundabout. It has gotten to the top of the
DPW list
• Discussion on bikers who would not want to go through the RA
would ride on the sidewalk; Tom - there is little walking traffic
during all times of the day so bikers would be fine going on the
sidewalk
• Omar - Can the roundabout be painted in such a way as to make
cyclists feel more comfortable? Lots of shadows and a green lane
right through the middle?
• Mike - paint may not be acceptable to Battle Green plan; other
ways to delineate bike lanes is through pavement
• The group discussed the proposed plan by engineering and looked
at the design
• Suzan suggested we advise that signage be added to alert both
drivers and cyclists that cyclists can and will take the lane as
they travel through the roundabout.
• The committee agreed to revise the letter drafted by Dave and
send it to the Select Board, Jim Malloy and John Livsey this
weekend, in advance of the Feb 1st Select Board meeting.
• This letter should endorse and agree but not list the details
• Jim: we should suggest bike lanes into the intersection and bike
lanes to the Minuteman Bikeway
• The group revised the letter and voted to approve the letter to
be sent to the Select Board the same day, January 29, 2022.
