<br />Rivets shall be removed by one of the following methods:
<br />l.- Shear rivet head using a pneumatic rivet breaker
<br />(HELLD06) and drive out rivet shank with a pneumatic
<br />punch.
<br />2.- Flame out rival head of %s" above the base meta/ using
<br />a rival scarfing tlp and drive out shank using a
<br />pneumatic punch. If, in the opinion of the Engineer,
<br />rival shanks cannot be removed by punching without
<br />damaging the base metal, the rivet shank shall be
<br />removed by drilling. Remove only one rivet at a time
<br />from any one rnernber and replace It with o high
<br />strength bolt, unless authorized by the Engineer. The
<br />replacement bolts shall be properly tensioned prior
<br />to the removal of a subsequent rivet.
<br />All Structural Steel shall conform to the requirements
<br />of ASTM designation A3la, except as noted.
