Selectmen’s Meeting – June 1, 2015 <br /> <br />Town Manager Report <br /> <br />Mr. Valente reported on five items: <br /> <br /> <br />1.The Belmont Golf Club is hosting the PGA Senior Tour from Tuesday, June 9 to Sunday, <br />June 14, and there will be road closures and there will be Lexington Police helping to <br />facilitate traffic. <br /> <br />2.The Massachusetts Avenue/Worthen Road intersection traffic concern has been reviewed <br />by the Transportation Safety Group and they have hired Beta to look at options for the <br />intersection. <br /> <br />3.The Transportation Safety Group is also working on traffic counts on Follen Road and <br />Peacock Farm Road because of the concern regarding speed and cut-through traffic. <br /> <br />4.The Community Center is getting close to completion and the Town Manager showed <br />pictures of the Fix-It Shop, Commanders Office, a function room in the Mansion and an <br />activity room being prepped for vinyl flooring. <br /> <br />5.Aaron Henry has been appointed as the Planning Director. He had been the Assistant <br />Director since 2007. <br />6. <br /> <br />Peter Coleman has been appointed as the Assistant Recreation Director. He had been the <br /> <br />Program Coordinator since 2006. <br /> <br />Review of Fife & Drum Tattoo on Battle Green <br /> <br />Ms. Morrisett, Business Manager for the William Diamond Junior Fife and Drum Corps, thanked <br />the Selectmen for allowing the Tattoo to be held on the Battle Green. It was a very successful <br />event and she hopes it can be held on the Battle Green next year, including the parade to the <br />Battle Green. <br /> <br />Mr. Pato attended the wonderful event and appreciates the work of the Fife and Drum Corps. <br /> <br />Ms. Barry surprised Ms. Morrisett by reading a thank you letter for her dedication to Lexington <br />and to acknowledge her involvement in Lexington over the past twelve years. She also presented <br />Ms. Morrisett with an American Flag flown over the Battle Green on May 29 and a Lexington <br />Pin. Ms. Morrisett will very soon be moving from Lexington to Ithaca, New York. <br /> <br />Ms. McKenna, Tourism Committee, was very pleased that the Fife & Drum Tattoo could be held <br />on the Battle Green and it was a wonderful way to start Revolutionary Revelry. <br /> <br />Ms. Crocker, Fife & Drum, thanked Public Works for allowing the use of the ceremonial flags <br />during the muster and tattoo. <br /> <br />Grant of Location Eversource Energy <br /> <br />Ms. Gillis, representing Eversource Energy was available to answer any questions. <br /> <br /> <br />
