Front Cover <br />From the Artist's Sketchbook <br />The pencil sketches reproduced on the <br />front cover are preliminary drawings by <br />Mr. Aiden L. Ripley, Lexington's nation- <br />ally known artist, done as part of a com- <br />mission to prepare twelve oil paintings <br />for the Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. <br />of Worcester. All twelve paintings re- <br />flect the life and times of Paul Revere. <br />In the body of this report are included <br />reproductions of the two paintings which <br />depict events in Lexington. On May 19 -21 <br />the Lexington Historical Society held a <br />reception for Mr. Ripley in Cary Hall <br />at which through the courtesy of the <br />Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. all <br />twelve paintings and associated sketches <br />were on exhibit. The Ripley sketches and <br />paintings in this report are copyrighted <br />by the Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. <br />and are shown through its courtesy. <br />
