Greenways Corridor Committee
October 27, 2014
Selectmen’s Meeting Room, Town Office Building
Lexington, Massachusetts
Members Present: Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Don Grant, Bob
Hausslein, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski
Other Attendees: Ginna Johnson, Planning Board liaison; Kevin Breunig
Votes:
September 29, 2014, minutes: Approved
Reports:
Kevin Breunig was introduced. He was Rick Abrams’ neighbor and is considering
joining the GCC.
Memorial to Rick Abrams (Eileen) – the Board of Selectmen accepted the petition
to rename ACROSS Lexington “ACROSS Lexington: The Rick Abrams Memorial
Trail System. Thanks to Bob and Eileen for presenting at the BoS meeting. The
new name will be on the new map/brochure, and a memorial walk will be held on
Route C on November 23, 2014.
Open Space & Recreation Plan (Keith/Eileen) – GCC is involved, but mostly
Town staff. A 4-page survey will be going out soon, looking for input from the
community. The consultant firm is VHB. A public meeting will be held on
November 20.
Brochure/Map update (Eileen) – The new maps will not change much from the
old, except to include new Routes C & D. Hope to have ready before Patriots’
Day. Eileen, Keith, Mike, are working on the project with Susan Kenyon and
other friends of Rick. The map will soon be too big for a “pocket-sized” brochure.
We need to think about future information dissemination for ACROSS.
Grain Mill Alley (Peggy) – At a recent public meeting, two proposed designs were
presented. No decision has been made because there are lots of people involved,
with lots of ideas and no consensus has been reached. Those involved are
looking to a December 1 deadline for Community Preservation Act funds
requests.
Healthy Communities Grant (Peggy) – Funds are available for new maps for
ACROSS and Bikeway. Should be ready for Bike Walk Bus Week, second week
of May. Can GCC sponsor/lead walks for BWB week? Planning needs to begin in
February. Would Library and/or Sustainable Lexington be additional sponsors of
BWB week?
