Lexington Housing Partnership: Building a Diverse, Vibrant Lexington 5. Updates on the Busa and Fairview Projects The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) approved the Local Initiative Program (LIP) on Fairview. LexHab is going to the Zoning Board of Appeal in August for approval of the housing plan for Fairview. If any LHP members are available, please go to the meeting and support LexHab. LexHab is making an agreement with MetroWest so that LexHab will pay MetroWest to make the application to DHCD for the Busa property. LexHab will present on Monday night to the Board of Selectmen on the status of the Busa and Fairview projects. This will be a review of progress to date and the schedule for future development. 6. Update on BoS Goal Setting meeting Mr. Pato provided an update on the Board of Selectmen goal setting process. There 43 goals. Housing was discussed and ranked a priority 1 activity. Discussion was focused on Vision2020 assessment. In the last survey (approximately a year ago), there were a 1,000 respondents. Based on the responses to the survey, the community believes that while diversity is important Lexington does not perform well on housing diversity. Mr. Pato and and Michelle Ciccolo will work with staff to determine how Lexington might deliver on the goal of increasing diversity. 7. Update on the Leary Housing Project LexHab is putting Leary on the backburner in favor of Busa and Fairview. 8. LHP Chair and Vice Chair Positions Betsey Weiss requested that the LHP members consider whether they might interested in holding an officer position. 9. New Business There was a request to add an agenda item for discussion about another community forum and, more generally, about raising awareness in Lexington as to the needs of affordable and diverse housing.
