ALL CONSTRUCTION SIGNING, DRUMS, BARRICADES AND OTHER DEVICES SHALL <br />CONFORM WITH THE 1988 MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />(M.U.T.C.D.) AND REVISION NO. 3 OF THE 1988 M.U.T.C.D:. DATED SEPTEMBER 3, <br />1993, ALL AS AMENDED FOR URBAN (HIGH SPEED) ROADWAYS. <br />2. ALL DRUMS NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH TYPE "C "- STEADY <br />BURN WARNING LIGHTS. ALL DRUMS SHALL BE SET 0 20' O.C. MAX. <br />UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED OR ADJUSTED BY THE ENGINEER. <br />3. ALL DRUMS SHALL BE APPROXIMATELY PLACED AND MOVED AS NECESSARY <br />TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE ABUTTER ACCESS AT ALL TIMES. <br />WORK MAY REQUIRE .ADDITIONAL SIGNS, DRUMS AND OTHER TRAFFIC <br />CONTROL DEVICES, GRADING AND TEMPORARY PAVEMENT FOR PASSAGE <br />OF PEDESTRIAN, VEHICULAR AND EMERGENCY TRAFFIC THROUGH THE WORK AREAS, <br />BOTH DURING AND AFTER WORKING HOURS, TO MAINTAIN SUCH ACCESS. <br />4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE TOWN OF LEXINGTON POLICE, FIRE, AND DPW <br />AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF LANE CLOSURES. <br />6. A MINIMUM OF ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC IN EACH DIRECTION ON <br />TWO WAY STREETS SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, <br />EXCEPT THAT DURING WORKING HOURS, TRAFFIC MAY BE REDUCED <br />TO ONE LANE UNDER POLICE CONTROL FOR SHORT TIME PERIODS <br />WHEN REQUIRED FOR THE WORK, AS SHOWN. <br />7. GRADE SEPARATIONS IN EXCESS OF 2" DURING NON - WORKING HOURS <br />WILL REQUIRE DELINEATION BY USE OF DRUMS. <br />8. EXCAVATION EDGES IN EXCESS OF 4 DEEP SHALL BE PROTECTED DURING <br />NON- WORKING HOURS BY BACKFILLING WITH A WEDGE OF GRAVEL OR <br />SOIL TO COMPACTED 4:1 SLOPE. <br />9. 11' MINIMUM LANE WIDTHS SHALL BE MAINTAINED. <br />10. EXISTING STREET LIGHTING SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. <br />11. NON- ESSENTIAL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL BE <br />COVERED OR REMOVED DURING NON - WORKING HOURS. <br />12, THE GENERAL SEQUENCE OF WORK IS DEPENDENT UPON THE REMOVAL AND <br />RELOCATION OF THE EXISTING UTILITY POLES AND WIRES THAT ARE FOUND TO <br />BE IN CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED WORK, BY THE UTILITY COMPANIES. THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL SCHEDULE THE WORK IN EACH AREA TO COORDINATE WITH THE <br />POLE RELOCATION WORK. <br />13. ADVISORY SPEED PLATES (W13 -1) SHALL BE USED IF APPROPRIATE AND AS <br />DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. <br />14.
