town space for public art / art displays / gallery space. Agreed to explore further
but that Zoe needs to get back to state within about two weeks. Jessie agreed to
write to Michelle Ciccollo and will copy the group a.s.a.p.
DISCUSSION AROUND GRANT APPLICATIONS:
Our goal for the meeting was to review all grant applications, identify all grants which we
could support, and identify any grants which do not meet the requirements. For example,
if a grant application does not have a venue, or if it proposes using an inaccessible
location, we need to identify these problems as they are reason for denial.
In earlier Treasurer report, we noted groups who had not collected awarded grants. We
agreed to watch this as it is discouraging to award funds to a group, see them go
untouched, and know that we turned someone else down or only offered them partial
funding. We agreed to try new ways to follow-through.
We identified grants where we have questions (yellow highlight), and grants where they
appear to meet our initial criteria (green highlight). The total amount of possible
qualifying grant applications exceeds available funds and we will work through this at
our next meeting.
1 Unlikely (no venue & venue is required for funding)
2 Unlikely (no venue & venue is required for funding)
3 Unlikely (no venue & venue is required for funding)
4 Unlikely (no venue & venue is required for funding)
5 Belmont World Film – party… $200.00 request … Ed Emberly
$5.00 charge $8.00 for talk with Emberlys
We granted them $150 last year –not yet claimed.
6 The Discovery Museums – has applied several years in a row
hasn’t claimed yet – asking $250.00 – Jean will contact them
7 Fife & Drum – 2 uniforms – capital issue – limited by MCC to proportion –
requires match – can be up to 1/3
8 Folk Art Center – requested $500 ($1300) –
9 Fruitlands – centennial free day – requested $300 ($9,000)
Maybe give less?
10 Golden Tricorn Committee – requested $320 ($320)
11 Hastings band concert – Metropolitan Wind –
we have funded before, Thurs. concerts,
requested $400 ($5,630)
12 Historical Society - $500 ($3,500)
13 Korean Cultural Society of Boston - $500 ($1,460)
14 LACS – Mural - $700 ($700)
15 Beading & Polymer Speaker - $250 ($250)
16 Ceramics Guild – State of Clay - $500 ($8,411)
17 Munroe Sat Night - $1250 ($9,250)
