Minutes <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />June 12, 2013, 2013 <br />Training Room, Public Service Building, 201 Bedford Street <br />Members present <br />Suzie Barry, Chair; Dick Crogan, Co -Vice Chair; Bob Tracey, co -Vice Chair; Linda Dixon, JoAnne <br />Granger, Barbara Manfredi, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy,. <br />Members not present <br />Mary Gillespie, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Sandy Podgorski, Charlie Price, Dave Taylor. <br />Business <br />The chair declared that a quorum was present. <br />The committee approved the minutes of April 10 and April 24, 2013 with minor corrections. <br />The next meeting is May 8, 2013 <br />Memorial Day 2013 — Feedback and Critique <br />• Chief Marshal: Fire Chief John Wilson is unavailable to serve as Chief Marshal. The committee <br />voted to endorse the Chair's decision to invite Sue Rockwell, Chair of the Lexington 300 <br />Celebration, for this honor. <br />• Clergy: Linda will confirm Fr. Arnold Colletti as clergy representative for the ceremony on the <br />Green. <br />• Sandy will contact Scouts to recruit wreath bearers (not including Munroe Cemetery) <br />Gresh Lattimore comments <br />- Paul's help with the microphone was perfect! And that mic really carries well! <br />- I was glad that there were several announcers along the route. Seems more inclusive of the <br />community. Next year I'd recommend that Marine Colonel Glenn Bassett ( bassette aol.com <br />be offered some announcing: he's the next generation and looks splendid in his Marine uniform! <br />Others as well: Sam Doran's done so much for the Monroe Cemetery that he'd be great to <br />preside there. The more the merrier! <br />- The scouts laying wreaths: their ceremonial carriage requires improvement! They should be <br />trained a bit before the event: stand up straight, walk with dignity to the memorial, make sure the <br />wreath is well pushed into the ground, stand away and at attention while a song or shots are <br />being fired. Their lack of the basics speaks more to the scout leaders than to themselves. <br />- Marching with the Color Guard: They keep a good cadence with their cleats, but it would be <br />helpful if one of the drummers from the high school band marched a bit behind them and kept a <br />steady beat. It would give the front of the parade more military bearing and sounding. <br />
