MQg
1775 NQ
k D
APRIL N
/NGT
The Community Center Committee has asked for input from our committee about the new facility. The
committee discussed the possibility of space for a bike repair workshop, a bicycle maintenance /repair
class that might offered under the auspices of the Recreation Department, covered bike racks outside the
Center, sponsoring rides that would leave from the Center, and maps showing bike routes to the Center.
Peggy mentioned that she has suggested to the DPW that a couple of repair stations along the Bikeway
might be considered for next year's budget and also asked that bike rack replacements and additions be
included in the budget now that the MAPC grant has lapsed.
Mass. Bike is sponsoring Green Fridays — "Walk/Ride Day ". If one takes alternative transportation and
wears something green on the last Friday of each month, they can qualify for discounts and /or free items
from sponsoring businesses. Information is at gogreenstreets.org.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:26 pm.
Record of the Discussions of Friends of Lexington Bikeways
Treasurer's Report: FoLB gave $50 to the Eagle Scout for Garfield Street boardwalk materials and $30
for additional Farmers' Market coupons.
Winter Social: We will have a winter social (pot luck) on December 12 at Peggy's house and hope to
welcome our new liaison. We should also increase publicity and put up signs directing cyclists to the corral.
Garfield Street Access Project: The project is now complete.
Fund Raising for Winter Plowing: We will fund raise after the first snowfall.
