There is nothing new to report on the contest. Because of a
change in school administrative staff and since the school curriculum is already
set for the academic year, the committee discussed the difficulty and time
constraint of trying to implement the contest this November. A motion was
made to skip this year's contest andBarbara Manfredi will work to reestablish it
for November 2014. The motion was accepted and approved.
• Publicity. The idea is in the early planning phase but
possibilities on how to restructure and recruit were discussed. A prospective new
member open house in late October was suggested where interested folks would
be invited for refreshments, or a buffet dinner, to hear members talk about their
own experiences and reasons for participating. Members were asked to e-mail
names of potentials to Suzie.
• VSO Ryan Lennon received a grant and help from the Lexington Rotary Club to
refurbish a memorial for a fallen member of the US Army Airbourne Division at the
town pool flag pole.
