• Flags and Bunting. We have enough flags and bunting to decorate Cary Hall and
Keilty Hall (for the breakfast).
• Seat of Honor. A POW flag is needed for a chair.
• Essay Contest. There is nothing new to report on the contest. Because of a
change in school administrative staff and since the school curriculum is already
set for the academic year, the committee discussed the difficulty and time
constraint of trying to implement the contest this November. A motion was
made to skip this year's contest andBarbara Manfredi will work to reestablish it
for November 2014. The motion was accepted and approved.
• Publicity. Articles to the press will include information regarding the parade and
ceremony.
o Approvals. Parade and ceremony approvals need to be submitted.
Patriots' Day, April 21, 2014
• Reenactment. Changes necessitated by security concerns are being planned.
• Parade.
• Our hope is that the application will be available on line.
• A request has been submitted for ten radios.
• It is important that Paul Revere and John Dawes arrive in town on time.
• Other.
• Some sort of outerwear to identify committee memberswill be discussed.
• Old Guard would like to be here for the event but funding is a factor.
Other Business
• Suzie and Linda shared their interest in making structural changes to the committee
and taking it in a new direction. The idea is in the early planning phase but
possibilities on how to restructure and recruit were discussed. A prospective new
member open house in late October was suggested where interested folks would
be invited for refreshments, or a buffet dinner, to hear members talk about their
own experiences and reasons for participating. Members were asked to e-mail
names of potentials to Suzie.
• VSO Ryan Lennon received a grant and help from the Lexington Rotary Club to
refurbish a memorial for a fallen member of the US Army Airbourne Division at the
town pool flag pole. The serviceman was a Lexington resident who died in the
1980's. His parents still reside in town.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm
Respectfully submitted by Sandy Podgorski
