<br />LDAC <br />EXINGTONESIGNDVISORYOMMITTEE <br />Meeting Minutes: <br />March 4, 2008 <br />Present: <br />Colin Smith (Chair), Alenka Slezak, Timothy Lee, Ginna Johnson, Betsy Whitman, Bahig <br />Kaldas, John Frey <br />Scribe: <br />Colin Smith <br />Call to Order: <br />The Meeting was called to Order at 7:30PM. <br />Approvals: <br />January 8, 2008 Minutes <br />Presentations/Review: <br />125 Spring Street: Patriot Partners/Shire Lexington Technology Park <br />The DAC reviewed the site plan and architectural design of the proposed Shire development with <br />Shade Street residents. Abutters in attendance were: <br />-Jeanne & Richard Canale, 29 Shade Street <br />-Michelle Ciccolo, 50 Shade Street <br />-Patrick Morin, 46 Shade Street <br />-Judith Healy, 54 Shade Street <br />Areas of concern and remedies discussed: <br />1.Discussed eliminating the North Parking Lot (adjacent to Building 400), and relocating the <br />spaces adjacent to Building 200 or at old “reserve” spaces shown on PSDUP plan. <br />2.Install timers on parking lot lights. <br />3.Regulate interior office lighting or install blackout shades (all sides of building) <br />4.Plant evergreen tree screening on affected abutting lots, with White Pine, Hemlock, etc… <br />to screen parking. <br />59 Worthen Road (Grace Chapel), Freestanding Sign <br />The proposed freestanding sign will replace the existing 8’ tall temporary sign. There was <br />concern about the overall size of the sign, design elements (stone wall, posts, sign) and internal <br />illumination. The applicant has since submitted a new design (3-12-08) for the sign that, in large <br />part, addresses these concerns. There will be no stone wall or internal illumination. If the sign is <br />to be illuminated, specification cut sheets should be provided for review and approval. The DAC <br />agrees with the recommendation that the supporting granite posts be 8” square dimension. The <br />applicant may want to consider increasing the size of the 14” high sign panel slightly so that the <br />information can be read more clearly.
