<br />Minutes of the Community Preservation Committee Public Hearing <br />Community Preservation Plan: A Needs Assessment <br />Tuesday, February 28, 2012 <br />7:30 pm <br />Estabrook Hall <br />Cary Memorial Building <br />Present: <br />Board Members: <br />Wendy Manz,Chair; Joel Adler, Norman Cohen, Jeanne Krieger, Leo <br />McSweeney, Sandy Shaw and Betsey Weiss. <br />Administrative Assistant <br />: Nathalie Rice <br />Also in attendance were David Kanter of the Capital Expenditures Committee and Town <br />resident Bob Pressman. <br />The purpose of the Public Hearing was to take comments on the 2012 updates to the <br />Needs Assessment Report authored by the CPC and updated annually, as required by the <br />Town’s CPA By-Law. <br />1.Needs Assessment Report – Public Comment - <br />Ms. Manzopened the public <br />hearing at 7:30 pm. There were no additional members of the public, other <br />than Mr. Kanter and Mr. Pressman, who had been attendance for a CPC <br />meeting scheduled prior to the public hearing. Mr. Kanter and Mr. Pressman <br />commented on the Report as follows: <br />Mr. Kanter noted that the last sentence in the first paragraph on page 13 was <br />misleading, since all the referenced properties were privately owned or had <br />been previously turned down for CPA funding. After discussion, members <br />voted (6-0-1) with Ms. Weiss abstaining, to strike the sentence, which read, <br />“Other buildings of concern include the Munroe School Center for the Arts, <br />the Hancock School Condominiums, the Muzzey Junior High School <br />Condominiums, and the Dana Home.” <br />Ms. Krieger asked to have the last sentence of the fourth paragraph on page <br />24 deleted. It read, “For calculation of the 10% minimum allocation for open <br />space, land for recreational use is not counted, pursuant to Section 6 of the <br />CPA.” Members voted (7-0) to delete the sentence. <br />Mr. Pressman had two comments. He questioned the reference in paragraph <br />one on page 6, which stated that the average home price in Lexington was just <br />under $600,000. The CPC discussed the reference and agreed that it should be <br />verified. Ms. Weiss will follow up on the matter. Mr. Pressman also <br />commented on the phrase, “ethnically and economically diverse”, which he <br />1 <br /> <br />
