Bridge Site Based Council Minutes <br />April 27, 2012 <br />Present: Meg Colella, Erin Maguire, Jill O'Reilly, Michele Welch, Lisa Diamant, <br />Nimisha Asthagiri, Naomi Priver, Angela Chang, Susan Orenstein <br />Minutes of March 16, 2012 meeting approved. <br />Meg discussed the 2011 -2012 School Improvement Plan (SIP). The results will <br />be presented to the School Committee (SC) on June 5, 2012. A lot was done <br />this school year. <br />Some highlights: <br />Professional Learning Communities (PLC) teams revamped some of the <br />procedures. The staff was surveyed and the results indicated that there was <br />growth in the consistent practice of data collection. PLC meetings are held by <br />grade team levels one time a week for half an hour. The focus this year has <br />been math and the math specialists attends grade level meetings when possible. <br />These meetings helped with Mixed Up Math. <br />School psychologist, Michele reported that her PLC focused on a first and <br />fourth grader in the PALS program (district wide program to support children with <br />social and emotional needs). The strategies used to support these children were <br />tracked and assessed progress being made. <br />Eight Bridge staff went to a Data Summit last summer and were trained. <br />These staff members lead their PLC teams. <br />School Wide writing prompt is given three times a year and staff score the writing <br />based on a rubric provided. <br />Peer observations have taken place this year with the support and <br />encouragement of Meg. <br />Erin and Meg have started a log that only they have access to. This <br />tracks children who have come to the office. Generally, there is only one visit but <br />it will be helpful to see if children have repeat visits. <br />All School Meetings have focused on the ABCs (Attitude, Behavior, <br />Character) of Bridge School and teachers have been nominating Bridge Patriots. <br />Fourteen staff members have already been trained in Responsive <br />Classroom, four more are taking the class this spring. Erin has trained IA staff in <br />this program. <br />BAT and CAT teams are ongoing. The third grade have piloted the BESS <br />evaluation (social /emotional) for the past two years. It has taken a lot of effort <br />and time. Meg will talk to the new Director of Guidance to see if the system will <br />have a protocol in the future. <br />Lucia Gates has been doing Common Sense curriculum with the 5th <br />graders. It is about cyber literacy and internet safety. <br />2012 -2013 SIP <br />A draft of the SIP was written and there were initiatives started last year that will <br />continue. <br />
