Lexington Housing Partnership 4. Housing Production Plan The Metro West Collaborative Development (MWCD) has submitted a grant proposal for a regional and by -town analysis of housing trends. The proposal is intended to analyze trends in Lexington, Watertown, and Belmont. If approved, housing production plan would be developed in two phases: 1. A regional analysis for the 3 towns and all contiguous towns; and 2. Local product plans for each of the communities. The proposed work is sponsored by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC). We discussed the idea of having a community meeting to provide an introduction to the planning process for the Housing Production Plan (HPP). This is consistent with the thinking of Aaron Henry, Senior Planner in the Town Planning Department. Topics to cover might include: ■ Why Lexington needs a HPP, as it is over the 10% requirement ■ Knowledge sharing as to what a HPP is and the process for creating it ■ The proposed goals for the HPP Ms. Kluchman will contact Mr. Henry to discuss the idea of a community meeting. DHCD may be willing to fund language translation services for the meeting, so that we can have a diverse audience. 5. Brainstorming The LHP briefly discussed ideas for becoming more effective. One proposal is to work with the Lexington Clergy Association (LCA), either as a committee or as individuals. The LCA is well respected within the town and its support would be most helpful. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 pm. The next meeting will be held on May 24, 2010.
