Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday December 11th, 2012
Ellen Stone Room, Cary Hall
Present: Pat Costello, Margaret Heitz, Albert Huang, Dan Krupka, Peter Lee, Bhumip Khasnabish
Dan Krupka, Nancy Ronchetti, Nirmala Garimella, Susie Lee -Snell and Marian Cohen
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.
The minutes of its meeting on November 13th, 2012 were approved.
• Dan Krupka opened the meeting with the main agenda being training of interviewers. To learn
first -hand on how this will be done, Marian would interview Peter as the pilot interview so
others could get an idea on how the interview would be conducted and questions could be
presented to the interviewee.
• The interview guide will be in two parts:
• Demographic information —to be filled in by the interview subject prior to the interview
• Interview questions — to be filled in by the interviewer during the interview.
• Marian Cohen annotated the interview process with some pointers
• Review the demographic data which will give clues about whether the member is active
or not — it will display leadership and involvements in various activities.
• The interview should be a guided conversation
• Interviews can be held at Town Hall or the Library — a quiet place
• It is best to be formal and professional
• Say thank you many times
• Be persuasive so you can get more responses
• Ask if you can call back to follow up members
• Marian interviewed Peter and annotated some responses. Notes were taken on some specifics
by the rest. (Notes included in a separate document emailed by Dan to all members)
• Nirmala interviewed Susie Snell at the end of the evening
Action items from December 11 meeting
1. Meetings through April will be scheduled for the 4th Thursday of the month. Dan will arrange for
room reservations to be changed, and will send out the revised schedule.
2. Dan will send out the interview guide annotated with suggestions from Marian Cohen
3. Interviews to be completed and reports sent to Dan by January 22, 2013:
• Susie Lee -Snell interviews John Lee
• John Lee interviews Albert Huang
• Albert Huang interviews Bhumip Khasnabish
• Peter Lee interviews Nirmala Garimella (if possible)
4. Peter Lee and Albert Huang will decide who will interview whom on the list of board and committee
members of Chinese origin
5. Nirmala Garimella and Bhumip Khasnabish will do the same for residents of Indian origin
Next meeting
Our next meeting: January 24, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Location to be announced
