Estabrook Site Council Meeting October 10, 2012, 3:40 -4:30 p.m. Estabrook School Library Estabrook Site Council Meeting Participants Sandra A. Trach, Principal, Estabrook School & Site Council Co -Chair Margaret Counts- Klebe, Site Council Co -Chair & Estabrook Parent Hemina KrishnaBachia, Estabrook Parent Karen Griffiths, Estabrook Parent Jenna Drisko, Kindergarten Teacher, Estabrook Rebecca Brogadir, Assistant Principal, Estabrook Becky Linton, Kindergarten Teacher, Estabrook Meeting Minutes 1. The meeting began with the introduction of member and a discussion of proposed norms. These include the following: • Following the Open Meeting Law • Collecting items for the agenda in advance • Producing a list of outcomes within 48 hours after the meeting • Managing time during the meetings 2. Discussion continued about the purpose of the Estabrook Site Council and member roles. The Council acts as an advisory board to the principal and there is equity and parity between the staff and parents on the council. Each meeting will have an outcome reporter and a timekeeper. 3. Mrs. Trach then provided an overview of the School Improvement Plan and reviewed specific areas that the council might focus on for the coming year including: • Goal 1 - Standards Based Report Card - helping to get the word out among parents • Goal 2 - Prosocial behavior including the Estabee program and home /school communication • Goal 3 - Safety - both the Operations and Maintenance Plan and the phased construction of the new school building 4. Outcomes • Site Council will consider partnering with the PTA re. the 11/28 parent forum on the Standards Based Report Card • Mrs. Trach will follow up with the PTA on a possible event in Boston for all Estabrook families • The Council will continue to consider ways to support the home connection for the Estabee program • The Council will work on updating the Family Guide in the next two months
