November 3, 2005 <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> <br />The following is the text of an email from Eric Michelson to the Committee dated <br />December 9, 2004, summarizing the position taken regarding campaign participation: <br /> <br />For your records- <br /> <br />At tonight's meeting the Appropriation Committee unanimously (7-0) adopted the <br />following policy: <br /> <br />The conduct of Appropriation Committee members in regards to election of candidates to <br />Town government is as follows: <br /> <br />1) No major campaign participation allowed: <br />This includes campaign manager, precinct manager, treasurer or any other staff position <br />which the members name is publicized. <br />No other participation totaling more than 10 hours. <br />No donations to one campaign totaling more than $100. <br /> <br />2) No public campaigning allowed: <br />No public endorsement. <br />No sign holding, phone calling, holding coffees etc. in which a committee member is <br />involved in interacting with the voters in a manner in which they can be identified as <br />supporting a candidate. <br /> <br />3) Minor campaign participation is allowed and is defined as such: <br />Behind the scenes participation (i.e. letter stuffing), less than 10 hours total. <br />Contributions up to $100. <br /> <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> <br /> - 2 - <br />
