Meeting Minutes Community Center Task Force Meeting September 4, 2012 Meeting Time / Ellen Stone Room, Cary Date: Location Hall, 7:30 pm Members in Laura Hussong, Chair Liaisons in Nancy Adler, COA Attendance: Jim Goell, Chair Attendance: Gail Fields, HSvcs Betty Borghesani, Sandy Schwartz, LexFUN Tim Dugan, Sophia Jane Trudeau, FCOA Ho, Florence Koplow, Lisah Absent: Rhodes Guest: The minutes of the August 27, 2012 meeting were unanimously accepted and approved. Drafting of the Final Report To The Board of Selectmen: 1. Town Staff who were interviewed (Library, Recreation, Human Services) will be contacted again to review our thoughts before the report is finalized. 2. Florence and Sophia will review the comments portion of our survey to include several representative quotes to be included in the report. 3. The report will summarize best practices in other Towns including a specific example of the Harwich Senor Center and simply include the detailed reports of all the site visits in the information packet. 4. Laura and Jim prepared a preliminary written Executive Summary and a Slide presentation for the Selectmen. The Committee liked the emphasis on need for space to accommodate not only existing programs but also the possibilities of using space to serve the unmet needs of tots, teens and seniors. 5. Tim summarized the proposed content of the report as follows: I . CONCEPT- CHARGE, VISION AND PUBLIC PLACES Quote (copy attached). II. PAST STUDIES- Senior Center Timeline, 20 -20 Vision, Review of Adolescent Survey. III. SOURCES- Department Heads, Recreation, Library, Human Services Lack of Space Central Scheduling, Information IV. NEW INFORMATION- LWV, Demographic Data, Survey Data (Arts, recreation, education, social), Comparative Towns. V, CONCLUSIONS /RECOMMENDATIONS- Space Needs Community Coordination Council (Hayden, Munroe, etc) Collaboration, Recreation, Human Services, LexFun, Co- locate Recreation
