\0 "s Mot, , <br />O 1775 NC <br />U p <br />3� a Way <br />V APRIL IT <br />�FX�NC'SO� <br />APPROVED MEETING MINUTES <br />Committee Name: Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee <br />Date, Time, and Location: May 10, 2012, Room 111, Town Office Building <br />Members Present: Peggy Enders (Chair), Laurel Carpenter, Stew Kennedy, John <br />Frey, Bob Hausslein (FoLB Chair), Mike Tabaczynski, George Gagliardi, Sandra Shaw <br />(Recreation Committee Liaison), and Jerry Van Hook <br />Members Absent: Marita Hartshorn <br />Others present: David Giller, Rich Spencer, Patria Lanfranchi <br />1. Minutes: The April minutes were accepted as distributed. <br />2. Bike Parking on Mass Ave and data collection: Was approved by the <br />Selectmen for weekends this summer beginning May 19. Dave Kucharsky from <br />the Planning Department would like baseline traffic data before the bike corral is <br />installed, so volunteers will do counts on Saturday, May 12, between 8 am and 6 <br />pm. An hour or two may be covered on Sunday. <br />3. DCR Grant for Minuteman Bikeway User Information (update): The Toole <br />Company has been hired; John Livsey will make the initial contact, since the <br />Town of Lexington is taking the lead in this 3 -town project. (The total budget for <br />the map and Bikeway design was $48K; $37.5 was awarded with the balance <br />coming from "in kind" labor or fund - raising.) With the hiring of the Toole <br />Company designers, the "User Information for the Minuteman Bikeway" project <br />can finally launch. Volunteers will document the current conditions on and near <br />the Bikeway (using spreadsheet supplied by the project managers, taking photos, <br />etc). <br />4. Plans for Bikeway Drainage and Root Control (update): A culvert collapsed <br />between Bedford Street and Hartwell Avenue, so Bikeway has been closed on <br />that stretch for repairs. No word on when root control work will begin. <br />5. ACROSS Lexington signage on the Bikeway: The Greenways Corridor <br />Committee has proposed to put up a number of small markers along the Bikeway <br />identifying the route of the first of the ACROSS Lexington trails. They hope to <br />mark the trail by September. <br />6. Complete Streets Workshop: Richard Canale and Peggy attended to 3 -hour <br />workshop in Watertown. These workshops outline the current thinking of <br />Comment [GG1]: Peggy, I forgot to <br />write down who was at the meeting, so <br />could you check this section for me? <br />Thanks. <br />
